This is the website for Social Rodent, a ring of retro web Discord servers run by Local Void! We maintain this site as well as all the other sites for our servers.

Social Rodent is on a temporary semi-hiatus while the owner prepares for and recovers from top surgery. The servers have been temporarily taken off of Disboard. Links on our websites are still active and can be used, but it is recommended you wait until at least mid-September 2026 to join.

All our servers have much the same policies, which emphasize mature behavior, judgment-free enviroments, anti-censorship and anti-harassment moderation styles, and a focus on nuanced discussions of personal experience. All Social Rodent servers are adults-only, and they add accessibility policies if new users need them.

Social Rodent is run by someone who remembers the old web days and moderates his spaces to feel more like the older spaces he remembers. This is why Social Rodent considers itself "retro web".

Social Rodent servers are normally smaller, more tight-knit, and have a community feel. They also have personal channels where you can post about whatever you feel like.

Social Rodent servers have a lot of plurals (of all origins), self-shippers, alterhumans, queer and intersex people, and objectum people. Some of the servers are catered to discussions of these topics.

This site may eventually have more links, including some personal thoughts about what it means to operate these kinds of spaces in this kind of style.

Social Rodent servers have rules that are intended to maintain an orderly environment, as well as policies about certain content or discussions that are or aren't allowed. Social Rodent welcomes plurals of all origins and enjoyers of all kinds of fiction. However, it does not welcome radqueers and prefers that people with transID experiences use different language for that experience.

Not everyone will necessarily agree with the policies of Social Rodent servers, and some people may have questions about the policies. Every site for a Social Rodent server has a copy of the rules and policies, as well as a questions page available under the "more" section", so you can be sure these servers are the place for you before you join.
